@bluesforbuddha Beige, I still have my launch Wii. It’s true that I’ve booted it up almost not at all this year, but I actually have a bit of a backlog on the thing, both in boxed games and Virtual Console games that I still want to get down to. For instance, I still haven’t played Super Castlevania IV, and VC is the best way for me to get that game. The original Genesis Strider also comes out on VC this week.

I actually still have plenty Super Mario Galaxy 2 (stopped after the credits), and so on. Also, I still have about 40 Gamecube games that I’d like to keep, but only a Wii on which to play them. That includes all the games I lost my save files for like Wind Waker, Skies of Arcadia, etc.

But yeah, I’m gonna be on Zelda at midnight. You can guess where my Sunday is going.

@feenwager @impynickers I never really cared about the overarching story or even the world in Origins. I only spent 60 hours on the game because I found almost all of the party members to be very likable and wanted to see each one of them through their personal stories. Does Dragon Age II have the same appeal?

Also, looking back, I’m gonna go ahead and say that the primary reason I keep my Wii around aside from the occasional exclusive is Virtual Console. I don’t emulate, so it’s been nice to see a very iTunes response to emulation. There are many VC games I own and intend to play through and some more that I still intend to buy. I didn’t play Super Metroid until I bought it on VC. Being just a click away from Super Mario RPG every time I access the Wii menu is pretty cool.

@feenwager: Actually, a friend of mine raised a very good point about Kinetinatalmovewii. What about people with disabilities? They’re pretty fucked if they can’t stand up to play a game, huh? Or if their condition means that their body mobility isn’t great. Or if they tire easily.

Of course, you can’t please everyone all the time. But I can only imagine what it must be like for someone with impaired mobility to see all this stuff about “the next big thing” and think… “well, what about me? I need my controller.”
