Hero-U managed to make it’s kickstarter money, so I guess we’ll see how the Quest for Glory dudes have aged and whether they can recapture the magic. Of all the things I’ve kickstartered it’s probably the one I’m the most uncertain of.

@mjpilon Oh man I hear you, same thing that happens to me, if I went on there I’d probably just dig some horrible deep hole in the ground and fill it with terrible things 😀 (enough monsters mean monstergirls right? ;___;)
anyway, on somewhat game related news I went to a nightclub for the first time (yes, I know… >_>) and what were they serving there but Dragon’s Breath. I bellied up to the bar and ordered one…. very good! Didn’t even become a smoking crater or pile of ash or anything! 😀
Thanks for the welcome @impynickers To those playing the QFG games I will warn that V is interesting but has those weird very 1999 to 2000 ugly graphics and awkward controls.
@Lou I definitely was impressed with the remake. AGD has done great service to fans of Sierra adventures. I admit that I have yet to finish the AGD version, but I imagine if I play through QFG2 again that will be the way I do it. I love that game man. Also…. welcome.
Since you guys are doing a show on Quest for Glory, I thought I would suggest the remake of Trial by Fire over at http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/qfg2/homepage/homepage.html I found it about a year ago. My Thief play through was about 95% the same as the original except for a new combat system and a few small puzzle changes. I was really impressed. So nice to not have the text typing box.
Well… I scared of games *this* old, so I think I’ll start with QfG 5 and work my way down.
I hope I get to play them all but they look pretty long.
All right, people. It’s been a while since we did a group mission, and recent talk of Quest for Glory suggests that this might be a good one for future podcasting. While the upcoming podcast’s topic is already set, let’s get some discussion rolling on this now so people have some thoughts to share in time for the next one.

@shingro Well, there was SORT of a remake of Quest for Glory II, as Impy has already said. I repeat it because it is a work of fan love that should really be seen to be believed, whether or not it is your Thing.
Great series, though! Quest for Glory 4 was my first RPG. No, really. Very first game I ever played which invoked most of the major genre tropes and conventions. I rapidly sidestepped into JRPGs and thence to Baldur’s Gate and Deus Ex in no particular order. I still love the QFG games for their special combination of silly humor and tropetacularity, which is not a word but should be. If you have not tried them and have ANY love for RPGs at all, go get ’em.
The Quest for Glory games are in my mind the best adventure games ever made.
Take persistent character transfer through all games
PLUS having the ability to learn all sorts of things you weren’t supposed to if you did so, making things all sorts of crazy
PLUS all the crazy deaths you might want in an adventure game (Oh what a cute kitty in this woman’s house… OHGODWHY!!)
… The Wizard trials, Mage’s Maze, colorful characters, gathering cheetaur claws, troll’s beard, the kobold shaman, ordering Dragon’s breath, the crazy puzzles and treasure hunting that was being a thief and breaking into people’s houses and making off with as much loot as you could find…
I just…. I can’t…
“Congratulations! You’re at WIT’s end! :D”
Yes, yes I think I am =P
Incidentally, are these the command line or the revised versions? I don’t remember QfG2 ever getting a remake
