I’m game to assist our performance while I wait eagerly for Civ V to rear it’s head. Is it on android? It seems like it’s taken some of the internet stalwarts by storm, and I certainly have the time for it for the next day or so

@bluesforbuddha Yeah, GAF and TouchArcade control the skies between them, pretty much, but we’ve been putting in a respectable performance. I can’t help at the moment as all my airports are on mainland North America. I guess I could close them all down and relocate to Australia (I probably have enough Bux saved up to do that) but… hmm.

The prizes for even getting in the top 100 are pretty decent, so it’s worth doing the global events when they show up if you’re in a position to do so.

iOS players looking for an idle timewaster of the Tiny Tower ilk… Nimblebit’s newest game Pocket Planes is out now. Grab it here.

If you decide to play, join the official Squadron of Shame flight crew by going to the Flight Crew option in the menu screen and entering “squadronofshame” into the flight crew name space. By teaming up and completing the relevant global events, there are in-game prizes on offer.

As for the game itself, it’s still fairly lightweight, but there’s a lot more depth to it than Tiny Tower. There’s a long-term goal, too; conquer the globe with your airline empire. You can build planes from parts you find, trade parts with friends and easily earn the “hard currency” through play without having to spend a penny.

Plus you can rename your flights. Which is awesome for this reason:
