God damn Grimrock. I just cleared level 3 and I’m honestly deciding whether or not I’ve had my fill. Mind you, this is the first “80’s style” first person dungeon crawler I’ve ever tried. Great game that feels very playable compared to most “AAA” games, and looks almost as good because of its sparse and efficient graphics. But shit man. I will comfortably say that I feel less safe in this game than I ever did in Demon’s Souls.

And did you know someone is trying to remake Eye of the Beholder using the Dungeon Editor? I tried what they had so far for about 180 seconds and said “hell no.”

Let’s wee where I am when that Torchlight II Thanksgiving sale rolls around next week.

@bluesforbuddha Yeah BlazBlue did the same thing – inject its story mode with a visual novel. Even Soul Calibur V kinda did this too but screwed up at it. I wouldn’t be down for it with any other set of characters.

On the subject of visual novels, we have a western release date for the sequel to 999. Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward hits the 3DS and Vita in English on October 23rd.

The reason I’ve been short of time to get into P4A though is because I decided to play through Dark Messiah Might and Magic over the last week and am preparing to barrel right into its predecessor – Arx Fatalis. The latest post on my page sums op what I thought about DM if you’re interested. Part of the reason I’m getting into Arx, other than investigating the back catalog of Arkane Studios before Dishonored comes out, is because I’m been in the mood for a dungeon crawler for a while – a DUNGEON CRAWLER if you know what I mean. I’ll probably install Grimrock after this.

Oh, and anybody around here played a game called Mace Grifin: Bounty Hunter? Garnett just endorsed the game on Weekend Confirmed and I’m interested in the ability to seamlessly switch between shooting up dudes with guns and shooting up dudes with a spaceship.

    Quick Dash!

Ghost Trick? That game is *very awesome* Miss Kamiiiiiiliiiaaa…! T^T
If you own an iOS device you have no excuse not to download the first two chapters (they’re totally free) and little more excuse not to nab the rest of this quality gem for $10. Wonderful game.

Tera open beta starts next week, if you make an account you can drop the code TERABETA into their redeem a code feature to start pulling down the client (25 gigs in proper MMO fashion) Legend has it Tera is by the numbers in everything but has really good action-based combat. dunno much else, will hopefully have the time to get in there and give it a look-see when I’m less on fire x___X

Legend of Grimrock is out and every bit as much Dungeon Master as you might expect, definitely not the worst 10 dollars I spent.

I’m glad the Mass Effect thing is pretty much over as everyone’s sick of talking about it, but I’m worried that the industry and gamers at large were too hard on what was probably the most polite protest this country at least has ever seen. Whatever you think of their request, I think everyone can get behind protesting with children’s charity and cupcakes. Looking back I’m really sad they didn’t get much credit for being wonderful people about the whole thing.

Quick book note: These are all in audio book form ’cause I’ve got a job where I can burn 8 hours of book per day, so I chew through books ridiculously fast, and since I’m also doing other things these didn’t have to pass super high quality tests, and they’re not particularly meaningful (except the first one,) just reasonable entertainment. So your millage may vary (except the first one, I’ll back his work forever.)
It’s probably impossible to find since I got it on cassette from a truck stop ages ago but Unicorn Variation and Angel Dark Angel read by Rene Auberjonois (Odo from DS9 hilariously) is a wonderful performance of two amazing short stories. in fact more of Rodger Zelazney’s work is kindof amazing if you like strange somewhat surreal stuff. I could recommend anything he’s ever written without qualm.

Another decent sci fi one to get perhaps might be The Lost Fleet series by John G. Henry under the pen name Jack Campbell, it’s a bit military but it’s a pretty good ‘long retreat’ story that has an interesting premise, It sort of examines the problems of a legend come back to save the day, particularly when that guy is Just A Dude. I can’t summarize well, so just poke at the first paragraph of the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Fleet . It’s a bit military for my tastes normally, but pretty good all told

if you want it a bit more fast and loose there’s always the Honor Harrington series or if you don’t mind a weird quasi-indictment of the church the Safehold series by the same author (David Weber.) If nautical stuff irritates you, beware these books, guy has a serious love of all that business and it clearly shows.

Lastly there’s always the Harry Dresden books, yeah, it’s ‘wizard in the modern world’ and fairly bubblegum poppy but there’s 12 of them, and the reader is really good, between all that there’s no real reason for you to be bored in your car. =P

FAR too much for a quick note but I’ll probably forgive me so long as I get my portfolio finished in time -___-

Oh man @cgrajko totally beat me to the Shadowrun returns news, good on ya! I know I ponied up my cash without a second thought =) can’t wait to see all the great stuff (or at least old) stuff that comes out of kickstarter

been crazy busy recently, lots of 1/2 sleep nights I’m afraid so I haven’t had much chin-strokey time but I got a few scattershot things, Playing SMT: Strange Journey for DS, and it is completely that old school SNES style SMT game, it’s also 15$ at gamestop so good times all around, only 8 hours in despite the days (see aformentioned busy complaining =P) but it seems pretty great so far, can’t wait to see where the weird splits come out, I’ll probably get into it more later

Speaking of old SNES games, does anyone remember Dungeon Master? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dLdoy0q2Gc ? Well allow me to suggest Legend of Grimrock coming out on GoG? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPuzj1xhlQ8 comes out April 11th, preorder to drop the $15 tag to $12.

Phyrra Omega is adorable even if she’s a crazy soul devourer ❤ new main? maybe, she's got tons of great guard damage and high return for what she lands. Good stuff

One of the papers I'm writing had be dredge up old memories of SimEarth for SNES, that game was kinda rad. Really teaches you a lot of science completely by accident. Good for the nerdy kid, wonder how it holds up now that I actually have some idea of what changing the atmospheric gasses will do?

Aaaaaaa!! I'm late already! :/ Good luck out there squaddies
