@angryjedi Good stuff, sir. Sticking the boot into the Black Dog is easier said than done. Bastard of a thing.

@redswir1 Wadjet really is some sort of glorious anomaly locked in a Lagrange point above an early Revolution Studios-esque world. Killer lo-fi aesthetics dress such wonderful high-concept adventure ideas. Primordia certainly looks the business. Might be the perfect winter game.

The first screens unveiled a while back made me giddy and tumescent. Look at all them robots.

Speaking of adventure games, let’s keep that spotlight on Stasis, Red, as I know you’re just as keen. A long and still-ongoing process, but channelling Sanitarium and Mission Critical (anyone play that? Hard sci-fi adventure game with a small VO role by Michael Dorn) and Solaris. I personally can’t wait and have been allowing a tiny rivulet of saliva to escape my rubbery lips since it was unveiled.

Also, Krater now has a demo on Steam.

Folks, Krater now has co-op, amidst a massive overhaul of systems and such! To celebrate, it’s now at ridiculous prices on Steam for today only.

    Krater – 7.49USD / Krater Collector’s Edition (Krater, OST, Dr Cerebro character DLC) – 9.99USD / Krater 2 Pack – 13.49 / Krater Collector’s Edition 2 Pack on Gamersgate (Steamworks) – 19.99USD

Always a hard sell with this one, it seems. But, if you want Torchlight meets Borderlands with emphasis on MOBA-esque combat across curiously green and gorgeous irradiated countryside, there is much bang for buck going on right here. Maybe keep it for winter, if you’re one of those seasonal types. As stated prior, Mac version update coming early November.

@redswir1 I know, but this is as safe a recommendation you’re going to get out of me…no characterless tank simulator (but the T-72 is all class), no jankware, just wry fun and rather interesting. Plus, you’re guaranteed loads of free content updates, right up until the second part of the Krater trilogy comes out. Jump in on the ground floor, sir – and if you hate it, you can brain me with a roadsign (+5 to Damage, +2 to Stamina).

Last boarding call, three hours of seven buckdom before it returns to the ungodly sum of fifteen.

A Krater demo would be nice…

@unmanneddrone I think it’s hilarious that Krater has random name generation and different rarity levels for party members, like they were Diablo loot. As you can see, Helmer the Laughable is merely green. Purple and Blue, good for you. Green and white, totally bite.

@beige You guys certainly were productive little doozers last night. I ate a bowl of cereal while watching a leather clad Big Boss painstakingly place, remove, and replace aesthetic elements one at time. You could tell you had a clear architectural vision that you were slowly working out in a medium of stone and wood block. Pretty funny to watch, because the Minecraft avatar is so emotive, too. I’m so used to playing that game alone. You can see someone pause and consider whether or not they like what they’ve created.

Anyway, Sniper Wolf memorial is coming along nicely. Carnage’s tree-mansion is also a thing to behold, he clearly knows his way around Minecraft, and thank god for Pete’s(?) spontaneous bridge! On my part, the observation tower is complete (yes, you can walk up it now), but just needs some furnishing. I like to think of it as a defensive bastion, in case those weird muppet monks in the NPC village decide to attack. I also forsee digging a basement with a subway stop for the eventual underground railroad.

    Lots to do!

@beige It’s an interesting case for narrative, ol’ Krater…because the scenario and quest vignettes, even within the constricted nature of…well… whatever Krater is, are really well-conceived! Hilariously self-aware, but there’s a very bizarre sense of place and a post-apocalyptic world brimming with quirky Swedish bumpkins and fortune-hunters. I think you’ll like it. A real oddball and outlier, and when played on hardcore permadeath mode, it elicits an emphasised fondness for your little band of buffoons and a certain kind of sadness (thanks Gotye) when the time comes to retire battered old veterans.

And I shan’t say any more on the title, through fear of boring everyone to tears! Except that I built myself a custom Duck Zapper for my Regulator crowd-controller. Note the duck.

Let it also be known that poor Helmer the Laughable is suffering permanent injuries; a fractured skull after being stomped by a caribou the size of a garbage truck and a busted pelvis at the tusks of a subterranean boar pack.

Oh look, it’s Mr. Hardsell again!

He’s here to offer a gentle nudge in the direction of Krater, which is sitting pretty in today’s sale. A measly seven and a bit bones for a lovely experience.

Now run along, Mr. Hardsell. You have the poorest sense of timing.

Just a little heads-up, fellows. Krater is part of the Steam Sale, and I would encourage investigation. In a post-Diablo world, it got shellacked in part due to a misunderstanding of what it actually is, but if you’re willing to drink a milkshake containing MOBA-style combat, Fallout-meets-Borderlands frivolity in colourful post-apocalyptica, overworld traversal with random encounters, deep deep dungeoneering…eh, look, just watch the Giant Bomb Quicklook and see if it’s your bag. Co-op still to come, but it’s one of my favourite experiences of the year thus far. Quirky, unique and definitely done no favours in the shadow of that goddamn Blizzard click-a-thon. Krater isn’t really an ARPG. More like an RTTRPG.

There might be another big discussions on it around the corner or down the line.
