@unmanneddrone Never played Prophecy, but I remember it being in the CGW subscription I had at the time. Reading about it now sounds like it eschewed the space opera, characteristic of WC, in favor of more action and added a mysterious invading alien race. Wait, that sounds familiar…

@beige Star Control 3 on GoG… I love the user reviews, “Just pretend it’s not Star Control”.

@pete Are there dwarves? If there aren’t any dwarves then this conversation is over.

Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes of Neverwinter launches into open beta on Facebook tomorrow. I’d like to encourage as many of you as possible to join the party as it’s a good game — not D&DVille by any means. It’s a faithful (if slightly limited currently) interpretation of D&D 4e rules and plays pretty well.

In the last patch, they broke it a bit by messing up damage and criticals as well as adding cooldown timers to recruiting friends a la Dragon Age Legends, but there’s another new patch today and the team claims to have been listening to feedback. We’ll see if it makes a difference. The issues mentioned above aren’t quite game-breaking, but they make the game not quite as good as it could be.

Give it a shot, though — there’s certainly no risk in trying it out for free, and you might be pleasantly surprised that a FB game can offer a bit of depth and bring to mind the D&D games of the mid-90s.
