@bowlisimo I’m a few hours in so far and yeah… I have mixed feelings about it. Love the setting, love the narrative as well (at least what’s happening in the Aminus so far). It is a slow burn but like the Minottis mentioned on the last EBP it’s working for me. On the flipside, there is a lot of needless “gameplay” between cutscenes. Walk 10 steps, cutscene… then open a door, cutscene, then ease drop… cutscene… then you fight for 5 minutes… again another cutscene. I’m hoping this is only because it’s early in the game and they need to set-up their narrative. If you are doing to mix gameplay and cutscenes, at least put in more substantial (and lengthy) gameplay elements between the cinematics.

Also, I already get the sense Ubisoft spent a lot of time (again…) on un-necessary padding . There are 3 types of dice games you can play. Why 3!? Who exactly looked at their mini-games and said we need more dice variety in our mini-games? That is not why people play AC… but Ubisoft again feels the need to add more content instead of simply improving existent content/mechanics (see the Tower defense from the last game). I’m still into the game… but my enthousiasm in the series seems to keep wavering since the high of AC 2 and Brotherhood.

In other news, I just received my copy of Spec Ops: the line in the mail today continuing my weird streak of shooters through Game Access (just finished Modern Warfare 1 and 2). I will likely try to play this in concert with AC3. All depending on my free time.

Also, letterpress on iOS people…. get on it. I need more challengers 😛

@bowlisimo Looks like I’ll be waiting for a lower price like I did for the last couple AC games. The AC games are really good, but they aren’t in that upper tier “I’ll go ahead and pay $60 for it” of game.

I also want to hear what the squad says about AC3. I’m hearing some mixed feelings, as well as some rumblings about a Mass Effect 3 level WTF ending. I will not be happy if this is the case. Then again, a lot of people disliked Revelations, and I ended up loving it, so let’s hope.

Also, I think it’s a little bit stupid and insulting that Ubisoft felt it necessary to censor a bunch of Continental soldiers getting the hatchet from Connor in the “US” version of the latest AC3 trailer. Is my country really THAT sensitive? What the fuck. Sorry, I just dislike getting censored versions of anything. I’m a big boy, I can take it.

That trailer got me excited, otherwise. Love that theme.

@unmanneddrone Thinking back on Homeworld, the story was simple, and there really wasn’t a ton of VO was there? Just ship banter and the Relic style image cutscene w/ narration. No characters that I remember, except First Officer guy. That was smart of them now that I think of it. Big bright spaces, fleets, and Samuel Barber.

@beige Haha, quote of the day.

Yeah, Boston for sure, definitely Albany or New York City. Here, I googled a handy chart for you. There are also a bunch of forts to consider as places to end up, like Ticonderoga or West Point, so who knows?

Going to be a shit ton of churches to climb and letters written with “sympathetic stain” being passed.

I will join in the chorus for Assassin’s Creed 3 by saying Fuck yeah for the American Revolution setting. I expect the action will be in Boston, Philly and…. New York?

Also @Bowlisimo Ben Franklin would seem the obvious choice in the Da Vinci role which is why it will probably be him. Maybe Jefferson? Regardless…. this will be awesome

And if things weren’t looking up enough already, the blogs are saying Journey is wonderful. I hate to call these incontrollable shakes I’m getting “nerd chills” but…

@impynickers French Rev would have been great too. Close enough though, eh? My next top choice was New Spain. Aztecs and Conquistadors. Hernan Cortes.

Anyone taking bets on what historical figures we work with this time? Benjamin Franklin is totally an assassin.

@bowlisimo I had my money on the french revolution, but I will take it. That seems really cool if true.

Oh my god, you guys. I may pass out. [See square sig]

Please be real, please be real, please be real…

@unmanneddrone If I merely look at the 2012 release list, if you include TBD games and also less high profile indie games and yeah, all those mech games, I can *feel* myself getting poorer.
