Trine 2 Coming to Wii U, Getting Expansion This Holiday

Gorgeous indie puzzle-platformer Trine 2 is on its way to Nintendo’s upcoming system with all-new content.

Worried that the Wii U is going to have nothing for “core” gamers? Finnish developer Frozenbyte announced today that it’s working on a “Director’s Cut” version of its visually stunning puzzle-platformer Trine 2 for Nintendo’s new system, so there’ll be at least one decent third-party Wii U title available this holiday season.

The Wii U version of Trine 2 will feature a new game mode called “Magic Mayhem” designed exclusively for the new console. Specific details of what this new mode will involve haven’t been revealed as yet, but we do know it will be a “party mode” for up to four players either online or offline. The Wii U’s GamePad device will be fully supported, but again, exactly how isn’t known just yet.

Alongside the Wii U version, a new expansion for Trine 2 will also be available this holiday season. This will feature a new adventure for the heroes featuring five new levels, a variety of new environments to explore and new skills for each of the game’s three characters. The expansion content will be included in the Wii U “Director’s Cut” version.

Trine 2 is out now for PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Linux boxes. Find out more here.
