Here’s the deal: at the end of the day, the 360 and PS3 are more alike than different. They both play games, both play movies, and both stream Netflix.

The question is what are the differentiating factors, and how does that favor each console?

Movies: Nod to the PS3, because of blu-ray. However, if all things were equal I could just get a standalone blu-ray player.

Controller: Big nod to 360.

Network: I know that XBL is overpriced. The fact that millions of people continue to pay for it WHEN THE FRAKKING MAIN COMPETITOR IS FREE is a testament to how weaksauce PSN really is.

Performance on multiplatform games: The 360 generally gets the nod here, whether it’s straight up performance, or timed dlc exclusives, or having more of your friends readily available, it generally makes more sense to buy a multiplatform game on the 360. (Darksiders being a notable exception. Did they ever fix the screen tearing problem?)

Exclusive games: Halo: Reach and Fable 3 vs Gran Turismo 5? Hell, I didn’t even really like Halo or Fable and that’s still one company trying a hell of a lot harder than the other.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to love my PS3. I’ve been a very vocal supporter of it for years. I get pissed when it sits there gathering dust in November and December, though.
