This is what I don’t like about the whole social/mobile space. Not the fact that they exist, but the fact that they’ve been taken over by this kind of business. I see relatively few mobile or social games from which I can feel any kind of sincere attempt at creativity. All I see is “we want people to click on our shit”.
In my experience, it works because their customer base doesn’t really see the original properties. They’ll just search for something on iOS or facebook and say “oh, a farming game”. At best they might be looking for a farming game, or building game, but won’t really know which one isn’t just a rip-off, or might not care in the same way they might care if one movie is a rip-off of another.
